Paper Duchess – Solo at Mixed Grille performance series

This solo explores or images of formality vs. casualness, tied to gesture, form, emotional content and image. I start with setting up an image of magical theatricality, a floating paper amoeba in the space that slowly comes into focus and starts communicating through gesture. This character shifts and is destroyed as I take my paper dress off and you see the person underneath. In my casual jeans, I start moving as a matter of fact and destroying the illusion of the theatricality.
I’ll be performing this solo in Rennes, France in June 2012, so come check it out before I “export” it to Europe.
