Fresh Juice Fundraiser – Mascher needs a new floor!

After eleven years of rolling, jumping, tapping, and dancing, Mascher’s floor needs replacing. This year Fresh Juice, the annual member showcase is fundraising $3000 for the purchase and instalment of a new subfloor.

Partners in art and life Paige Phillips and Evan Dawson present Are you a good girl?, a movement work drawing inspiration from the relationship between parrots and their humans as documented on YouTube. Janna Meiring will perform Forty Years of Magnitude, an improvised study exploring the underlying brightness of a human life. Zornitsa Stoyanova will present an adaptation of her Explicit Female show, featuring a psychedelic film and live performance. In topographical Kate Seethaler with Stephanie Turner explore what happens when a work created with/by specific bodies in relation to a specific room migrates to two new bodies in a space miles away from the origin. Vintage chorus girl dancers The Old City Sweethearts will perform 2 short pieces from their repertoire of original and tribute choreographies in the style of the Jazz era. Also, master percussionist Julius Masri along with other local dance artist will perform an improvisation score.
Drinks and raffle prizes after each show.

Raffle prizes: private yoga and pilates classes, a month of membership at Mascher, a tarot party reading, Pennsylvania Ballet tickets, a month of Urban Movement Arts membership, a $50 gift certificate to Avenue of the Arts Dancewear shop and others.

Tickets will be $10 – $25 sliding scale – remember we do need a new floor, so we will take more money if you’d like to donate.
